Awhile ago, I wanted to host my membership in ThriveCart, but I couldn't believe there was no easy way for members to upgrade their membership plan!

I was even more in shock to find out that when members cancel their membership they lose access to everything immediately, even if they had paid through the month, or year!
But that's not all! If you want to automate any of the following, this TC Automation setup is for you!

  • Remove people from your membership platform and update your ESP tags, segments, custom fields, etc.

  • Pause either membership or payment plan subscriptions

  • Set up cart abandon emails that work and increase revenue that come from your personal email and not your email service provider

  • Send dunning emails from your personal email account to remind users when their payment is due

That's Why I Spent all the hours, the testing, and finally figured out how to do this with Automations on Make.com.

And here's how they work!
  • Allowing Members to Upgrade their Current Membership Plan
    So the set-up looks so intense! And it would probably scare you if you had to do it! That's why I'm here. But this is the simple way it works.

    1. A new subscription with an existing subscriber is recorded in ThriveCart.
    2. The automation looks for their next re-bill date for an existing subscription and will wait to be cancelled until an hour(s) or a day before their next re-bill date.
    4. The new subscription goes into effect immediately and if applicable, course access will change.
    5. An hour(s) or a day before their next re-bill date their OLD subscription will get cancelled and if applicable, course access will change.

    This is perfect for members who want to upgrade to Annual from monthly or quarterly plans. Or if your membership is offers different levels like basic and pro.
  • Member Cancellation Request Automation
    gah, say membership cancellation automation three times fast! Anyway...

    1. Members will submit a form to cancel.
    2. They will get an email saying you received their cancellation request.
    3. An hour before their next re-bill, their cancellation will be processed and the customer will get an email confirming their email is cancelled.

    You don't have to lift a finger!
  • Pause Subscriptions
    Allow users to pause their subscriptions for up to three months or timing is up to you.
  • Create Dunning Emails to remind Members when their next billing due date
    Setup up to three dunning emails to remind members of their next billing due date.

    • How long will it take to set up?
      It will take about three to five days. This includes extensive testing before setting up live.
    • Can you do this with Zapier?
      The fastest and best results have been through Make. That's why I don't currently offer this service with Zapier.
    • Do you pay for Make?
      You are responsible for all subscriptions to third-party tools for Make.com, Gmail, and have a paid ThriveCart account.
    • Do I need Learn+?
      Yes, Learn+ is needed to complete these automations successfully.
    • Will this work with my existing subscriptions?
      Yes, because we check subscriptions of each person we will be able to determine if they have existing or are new subscriber and move them along accordingly!
    • I have multiple (more than 3) levels to my membership, is this for me?
      At this point, I've only tested this automation with three and two levels of a membership plan. Example of a two level membership: Monthly and Annually. Example of a three level membership: Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually or Basic, Standard, Premium.
